He was always smiling and just beyond happy. He never would have guessed that he could have been this happy, especially since Marley had yet to move in with him, but he was ecstatic. He could not wait for the baby to be born and Max was pretty excited about it too. He was probably excited to have someone to play with, although that would not happen for a couple years but still. It was the idea that counted right? Phoenix felt a smile on his lips still while he lounged around in bed, not wanting to leave its warmth. He was so comfy that for a split second he considered telling Marley he was sick and couldn’t make the appointment. But he would not be that mean so he figured he should get up now.
That was when his phone started to buzz and he read the message from Marley. So he told her that he’d be there and then set his phone down. Well, he supposed that he should get up and start getting ready. It’s not like he could show up in pajamas and his hair looking like bedhead. That would be bad wouldn’t it? He sat up and stretched before running a hand through his brown hair. He was sure that it was going in all different directions and he needed to fix that. So he walked to the bathroom and then turned on the water before hopping in and letting out a content sigh when the hot water hit his skin. There was always something relaxing about hot water and he had no idea what it was, but god damn it was awesome.
About fifteen minutes later he emerged from the shower and wrapped a towel around his waist. He then walked back into his bedroom to find something to wear. Normally his outfits never changed. They just consisted of a tee shirt, a pair of jeans and some sneakers. It was a simple outfit, sure, but it got the job done. So he slipped those on and then went back into the bathroom to do his hair. That was also not a hard task since all he really did was put a little bit of gel in it to get it to stick up because he just wanted it that way. When Phoenix was done he went and grabbed his phone and then some cash for a cab and then he slid on his sweater. He was pretty much ready to get there.
The ride was boring. It was only a ten minute drive in normal traffic but, seeing as this was New York City it would take about a thousand hours. Maybe not that long but that’s what it felt like to Phoenix. When he finally arrived at the hospital the boy paid the cab driver and then booked it to the maternity ward. That was when he said Marley’s faded pink hair and he smiled. “Hey, I’m here.” he said, sliding into a chair and then kissing the side of Marley’s head. “You look great.” he told her and meant it. Even though she was gorgeous with make up to him, she was also even better looking without it. He never understood why girls just caked it on but hey, whatever. “How much longer?” he asked her, wondering if he was too early or if he had just made it. If it was the first one that would look better right? Then he hoped that he was too early but he would see.

[/b] she told him with a grin letting her blue eyes scan him gently and admire him god she was so lucky to have him as the father to her baby like really. When he told her she looked great she smiled but rolled her eyes playfully at him still rubbing her hand in circles over her stomach. ’’I don’t feel great, I’m really sore and I really have to pee’’ she muttered tilting her head back and closing her eyes. ’’plus the baby is kicking me and pushing on my bladder, I swear she knows’’ she added with a frown before opening her eyes and looking around at the waiting room. Then when he asked if they still had awhile she was about to answer and a nurse called her name she nodded in her direction and glanced back at Phoenix. ’’I guess its our turn’’she replied trying to push herself out of her chair before waddling in the direction of the nurse and following her into the examination room. He was pretty excited about his daughter and they only had seven more weeks. That was two months left, give or take. But he still was excited. And he knew that Max was also pretty excited about having a sister. But while he was waiting for the doctor to come out he started to get a little weird feeling in the pit of his stomach. It was probably nerves or something that he was supposed to do but could not remember. So he tried to think of something that was pleasant. Like how he had tomorrow off and the next day too. That was something pleasant wasn’t it? He thought it was. Phoenix liked his job but he liked sleeping in and being lazy a lot more. Of course, with a kid on the way, the laziness was going to come to an end but he figured that he could deal. Sure, he might not like it, but he could definitely deal with it. Or so he hoped.
When Marley told him that she was glad that he had showed up he smiled at her and shrugged. “I wouldn’t miss it for the world.” he told her, speaking the truth. He felt like he had to be there for everything since this was their child. And sometimes he felt like he was more excited for the baby than she was, but that was probably understandable. He was not the one who had to carry the child around and he did not have anything kicking him in the ribs. But he was still pretty damn excited about this whole thing. So when she started to complain he offered her a sympathetic smile. He honestly had no idea how it felt but hey, at least it was soon right? “Well at least she’ll be out soon right? We’re pretty damn close.” he told her, wondering if his words were even comforting or not. But he was trying and that was that right? He usually did not know what to say to comfort her since she could still jump down his throat at any second and that was never fun. Maybe he should just stop talking now.
That was when they were called into the room. Phoenix stood up and wiped his hands on his jeans although why he had no idea but that was okay. So he grabbed her hand and followed her into the room. And he felt kind of awkward since he was just there but while Marley got all situated he stood by her side and he wondered how long this was going to take. If all was fine and well it shouldn’t be long but sometimes things did not go fine and well. That was when the feeling of doom kind loomed over him but he figured it was just a fluke. It would go away eventually right? It had to.

[/b] she spoke softly pulling her hand away before brushing her faded hair away with a sigh. Then they were pulled into the examination room and Marley, changed into a gown and became situated on the bed and glanced around at the ultrasound machine and numerous other tools as they waited for the doctor to come in. She motioned for Phoenix to sit and shortly afterwards the doctor arrived. Marley lifted her shirt over her round stomach. The doctor first did the ultrasound and by the way he sighed she felt her stomach tighten in knots. ’’The baby is healthy but breached we do have seven weeks but if she doesn’t shit positions were going to have to do a c-section so we’ll have you in more frequently to check dilation and to see if we need to induce labour’’[/i]. Marley nodded slightly glancing at Phoenix before glancing at the ultrasound screen to see the image of their baby as the doctor froze some images before moving onto some other tests. When he finished he gave Marley a grim look and sat on the edge of the bed. ’’Miss Rose I advised you on your blood pressure before and it is still quite high if it does not go down it could be a great risk to the baby and you when it comes to birth have you been staying on bed rest? Marley shifted her gaze slightly. ’’of course’’ she stated and he gave her a look but continued. ’’Right well continue with strict bed rest and keep your stress levels down, I need to see you back in two days and if we can’t get your pressure down we’ll have to look at our options’’[/i] he stated and Marley simply nodded before the doctor retreated. Then she pulled herself off the bed and quickly changed back into her clothes while ignoring Phoenix not wanting to hear what he had to say. She pushed her hair away before gathering her things and resting her hands on her stomach. Then she quickly exited the room and made her way out of the hospital and to the street taking a deep breath and she paused waiting for Phoenix to catch up.
